About PokeViews Sealed Indexes

The PokéViews Sealed Indexes track English sealed Pokémon products using the following methodology: Baseline: All indexes are set to 100 at the start of the index. Index values represent cumulative performance from this baseline (e.g., an index value of 650 means $100 invested in at the start of the index would be worth $650 today, a 550% return). Constituent Selection: Products are selected based on market price rankings within their respective index scope: • Top 100 Sealed Index: Top 100 sealed products overall • Sealed Index by Era: Top 20 sealed products per era (100 total across 5 eras) • In-Print vs Out-of-Print: Top 25 products per category (50 total) The Top 100 and In-Print/Out-of-Print indexes include Booster Boxes, Booster Packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes. The Sealed Index by Era excludes Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes to enable fair comparisons across eras (as PC ETBs only exist in Contemporary era). All products must meet minimum sales volume thresholds to ensure reliable pricing data. Individual cards, graded products, and non-English releases are excluded. Weighting Method: Equal-weighted across all constituents. Rebalancing: Conducted monthly on the first day of each month. Smoothing: PCHIP (Piecewise Cubic Hermite) interpolation applied to generate smooth daily values between monthly rebalancing points and the current day. Calculation Frequency: Index levels are updated daily based on PriceCharting data.
The Sealed Index by Era tracks sealed Pokémon product performance across five distinct collecting eras: Vintage, Classic, Mid Era, Modern, and Contemporary. Each era has its own equal-weighted index composed of the top 20 sealed products (booster boxes, booster packs, and Elite Trainer Boxes) by market value within that era. Products are excluded that do not meet minimum sales volume thresholds.. All five indexes are rebalanced monthly and updated daily, allowing collectors to compare which Pokémon generations are appreciating fastest and identify era-specific trends in the sealed product market. For example, you can see whether Modern era sealed products are outperforming Vintage, or if Contemporary products are gaining momentum relative to Classic era items.
Era Classification: 5 eras tracked: • Vintage: Original, Legendary Collection, Neo series • Classic: E-Card, EX series • Mid Era: Diamond & Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver, Black & White series • Modern: XY, Sun & Moon series • Contemporary: Sword & Shield, Scarlet & Violet, Mega Evolution series
In-Print products are sealed Pokémon items (booster boxes, ETBs, Pokémon Center ETBs, and booster packs) from currently active Pokémon series that are still being manufactured and distributed (e.g., Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution as of February 2026). Individual products within these series may no longer be actively printed, but the series itself remains in production. Out-of-Print products are sealed items from retired Pokémon series that are no longer in production (e.g., Base Set, Jungle, XY, Sun & Moon, etc.). The In-Print Sealed Index tracks the top 25 modern sealed products, while the Out-of-Print Sealed Index tracks the top 25 vintage sealed products. Both indexes are equal-weighted and rebalanced monthly to compare performance and volatility across these two market segments.
The PokéViews Sealed Indexes serve as market benchmarks for tracking the performance of sealed Pokémon TCG products across different market segments. By focusing on the most valuable and actively traded sealed products with demonstrated sales activity, these indexes provide investors and collectors with standardized measures to evaluate the sealed product market. The Top 100 Sealed Index tracks overall market performance, the Sealed Index by Era allows comparison across five collecting generations (Vintage through Contemporary), and the In-Print vs Out-of-Print Indexes reveal how current releases perform against retired products. Together, these indexes enable comprehensive analysis of sealed product trends and performance relative to graded and raw card markets.
